Is it too late to say THANK YOU!??? I really hope not as this OAF Family are eternally grateful for your custom and general loveliness. We cut, packed and managed to successfully get out of our very, very cold cheese room nearly 370 orders this Christmas. For 2 full timers and 2 unpaid hands (i.e. me and Laura) this is no small feat. We really hope you enjoyed gorging on some delicious cheese and you found the quality, care and taste met if not exceeded your expectation. Cheesemas always brings our once a year customers out of the woodwork but it is really the people that read this rather silly update that make us who we are and allow us to still follow our dreams SO THANK YOU!
Well, 6 weeks away from cheese, catering and hospitality and what do we have to show for it. Ian has gone off the scales and brought in some rather special Truffle Brie (something to do with Brexit, Trump and living life to the full was his justification for such a decadent cheese) and also some rather lovely looking new goats cheeses from the Poitiers Charentes Region. We are looking to really focus on bringing in some more soft cheeses this winter after struggling with the quality and ripening of Perl Wen, Donge Brie (which only improved just before Christmas) late last year. Look out for Baron Bigod and a few other South West soft cheeses that are still in their early days in terms of ripening but looking promising.
Our shop will be reopening this Friday, 4th of February alongside our neighbours, Bourton Farmed Foods who are also going from strength to strength. Expect a new veranda to be on show and some lunchtime treats from the best farmer and butcher in Buckingham. Did you know Tim's pork is cheaper than any other local provider yet has the highest welfare too? Value for money and delicious - you really must visit to see what is on offer.
We are opening our pop-up cafe at Evenley Wood Garden on Friday, 4th so it really is sprinting out of the blocks this week. Friday is our soft launch (aka practice run) so come and see us and we will offer a big fat discount on any food ordered. Our hope is that with success and footfall we can increase the menu and we can serve you even more delicious goodies. A good place for information is the Evenley Wood Garden website.
A few things to note: You will also need to wear warm clothes as the hut is exposed to the elements so warm soup and coffee really do hit the spot! There is plenty of parking but surfaces are uneven and not paved so be careful if you have mobility issues / buggies. We will be opening throughout February and our sample menu can be viewed here on ourFacebook page and website.
